Hear the difference

A real song. Before and after.

Exactly what the engine made of a real mix, no hand-tuning. Switch while it plays.

How online mastering works

Three masters. You pick the one.

01

Drop your song

WAV, MP3, FLAC or AIFF. Or a whole album in the Studio.

02

Hear three masters

Gentle, Balanced and Bold at the same loudness, from your song’s highlight.

03

Download and release

24-bit WAV, 320 kbps MP3 and a 30-second clip for social media.

The engine

Built from scratch. Tuned by ear.

Contour, our own mastering engine, listens to your whole song first, compares it with commercially released masters and corrects only what stands out: muddy low mids, a dull top, a thin low end, narrow highs. A lo-fi mix keeps its character.

Honest comparison

Louder always sounds better. So we level the field.

Every version plays equally loud, and Same loudness matches the master to your original: you judge the sound, not the volume.

Three masters, one loudness

Gentle, Balanced and Bold play equally loud, so you choose by sound alone. The engine marks the one that fits.

An honest comparison

Same loudness turns the master down to your original's level: you hear what changed, not just more volume.

Starts at the highlight

Playback starts at your song's first big section, a chorus or a drop, where a master's changes are easiest to hear.

Hear it everywhere

Listen on a simulated phone, laptop, earbuds, car or club and check that the bass and vocals come through.

A 30-second clip for social media

Every master comes with its highlight as a ready-to-post clip with soft fades, for Reels, TikTok and Stories.

A release check before you download

Loudness, true peaks, mono and silence at the start and end: what distributors and streaming services look at, checked on every version.

Albums and EPs

Master the whole record at once.

Drop every song into the Studio. They master in track order, three at a time, all to the same loudness. Pick a version per song and download the album as one ZIP.

FAQ

Online mastering, explained

What is online mastering?

Mastering is the last step before a release: it balances your song's tone, sets a competitive loudness, controls the peaks and makes it translate on every speaker. Online mastering does this in minutes in your browser: upload your mix, compare the masters with your original and download a release-ready WAV.

Is it really free to try?

Yes. Sign in to get 3 full-song masters, no card needed. Every song includes Gentle, Balanced and Bold, with all downloads. Free mastering is subject to availability and fair-use limits.

Which genres does it work for?

Any finished stereo mix: electronic, pop, rock, hip-hop, ambient, acoustic. The engine listens for drums and adapts the top end, and it only corrects what stands out from a balanced master. A mix that is dark or heavy on purpose, like lo-fi or ambient, gets Gentle recommended, so its character stays.

What are Gentle, Balanced and Bold?

Every song is mastered three ways, all at the same loudness. Gentle keeps your mix's character with a light polish, Balanced gives an even polish, and Bold the fullest one: more clarity, air and weight. The engine recommends the one that fits your song; one master includes all three.

How loud will my song be? What is Streaming loudness?

Loud masters reach about −8.5 LUFS in the loud parts with peaks at −0.3 dBTP: as loud as current releases. After any purchase you can choose Streaming instead: about −11 LUFS with peaks at −1 dBTP, which keeps more punch, since Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube turn loud songs down to around −14 LUFS anyway. Every master shows which loudness it was made at.

Can I master an EP or an album?

Yes. Drop several songs into the Studio and they master one after another, three at a time on paid plans. Every song is mastered to the same target loudness; pick a version per song and download them all as one ZIP.

What files do I get?

A 24-bit WAV at your song's sample rate for distributors like DistroKid, TuneCore or CD Baby, a 320 kbps MP3 for sharing, and a 30-second clip of your song's highlight with soft fades for Reels, TikTok and Stories.

Why does mastering take a few minutes?

The engine masters your song three times and listens back to each version, correcting it until its loudness, peaks and punch are right. Time depends on your song's length and sample rate. You can leave and come back: your master is saved.

Will it change my mix?

It works on the whole song, like a mastering engineer: tone balance, stereo width, punch and loudness. It doesn't rebalance your instruments; if the vocal is buried, fix that in the mix first. Compare the master with your original at the same loudness before you download.

What does “Listen on” in the player do?

It plays your original and your master the way a typical phone speaker, laptop, earbuds, car or club system would, simulated in your browser, so you can check that the bass and vocals come through everywhere. Your download is always the real master.

Who owns my music? Is my song private?

You own your music and keep all rights. Songs are stored privately, never shared and never used for training. We delete them after 30 days. Only upload songs you have the rights to.

What does it cost after the free songs?

$3.99 for one song, $19.99 for 10 songs (credits never expire), or Pro for $9.99 a month with 30 masters, about 33¢ per song. Unused Pro masters roll over and you can cancel anytime.

What if I don't like a master?

A credit is used when mastering starts; downloads never cost extra. Processing failures return it automatically. If a master disappoints you, write to hello@makeitsoundpro.com within 14 days and we'll refund the credit.
